Ashley Sutterfield is a Food Scientist with a passion for local business. She is the Founder of Metzger and Roth, a consulting firm specializing in commercializing food products for retail and foodservice distribution. Sparking her interest in Food Science as an undergraduate at OSU working in FAPC, she pursued a career in Research and Development with Tyson Foods, Inc. For more than a decade Ashley has developed products for Panda Express, Domino's Pizza, and Walmart; she has successfully developed products in over 50 production facilities. She has combined her knowledge of commercialization with her passion for small business to create a resource to support food entrepreneurs through the product development process. Metzger and Roth strives to guide food entrepreneurs through the development process by assembling a team of chefs, food scientists, nutritionists, ingredient suppliers, and manufacturers to launch products using a gold standard process.
As a Master Meat Crafter and Certified Culinary Scientist, Ashley has a passion for combining the art and science of food. She teaches for the Research Chef's Association at Brightwater: A Center for the Study of Food in Bentonville, AR. As a personal project she travels across the country making artisan salami for fun! In addition to Metzger and Roth she is the Founder of The Local Table, a Food Experience company in Northwest Arkansas which specializes in food tours and intimate dinner experiences.
